Reading rainbow.

I'm really loving marking things off my 101 in 1001 list.  I have short term goals (unlike on a Bucket list), and it feels like such a huge accomplishment to mark things off.  The next one I make won't have so many little notches though within one item (ie. bi-weekly date nights with hubby sans cell phones...we don't even have time to make the bi-weekly thing happen!).  Anyway, I've been working to read 25 of the 101 books to read before you die.  First, I'm thinking about continuing that list but eventually upgrading to the 1001 books to read before you die list.  Currently we have no cable, so I am doing a much better job of reading for at least an hour before bed.  It feels wonderful!  I finally got a library card in Raleigh too (which I hate not buying new books, but on a budget, a girl has gotta hit up the library!). 

Way back in July I started on Pride and Prejudice.  It definitely wasn't one of those books that keeps you on the edge of your seat.  What I enjoyed about it was escaping to another time period.  It is a wonderful feeling imagining what your family status or love life would have been in you lived during that era.  It was a good read, but I don't think it's high on my list to read again.

In September/October, I re-read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...

This was, of course, in preparation for part 1 of the movie releasing later this month.  If you want to know anything about me, it is that I have the worst long term memory ever.  It is odd because I am pretty good with directions because I am observant (something about being a visual learner?).  I figure I have to have some sort of vivid memory, sight, object, etc. to tie information to in order for it to be recalled fully at a later time.  Anyhow, it has been a few years since I had read HP and I had completely forgotten what happened.  I am now so ready for the movie!

When I first went to the library, I left my phone in the car and couldn't really remember which book from my 101 list I wanted to read next.  I ended up picking up The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I finished it this weekend.  I have to say I wasn't the biggest fan.  I know it is supposed to be British humor.  I just felt like there wasn't really a climax.  I just basically wanted to get through the book.  It obviously was very sci-fi which isn't my favorite genre either.

Now I am reading, Life of Pi, which I'm only a few pages into.

I'm not completely sure how I feel about it yet, as it is supposed to be a book that will "make you believe in God."  If it is filled with religious overtones then I'm not sure how into it I'll be.  On the other hand, it has a lot to do with animals which I love!  Guess you shouldn't judge a book by it's....um...author's note?
