Food & Beer Friday :: For the non-beer drinker.

A couple Fridays ago, I got a great comment from Ari, and she mentioned she wasn't a beer drinker.  This sparked an idea!  I have plenty of girl friends who aren't into beer, but this one is usually a winner!  Lindemans Pêche Lambic isn't the type of beer that I usually talk about on Fridays.  Lambic beers are native to Belgium, and they differ from other types based on the fermentation process.  I won't get all technical on you, but you can learn more about the lambic style from here.  Lambics are usually either really sweet or really sour.  One of D's favorite breweries is possibly the most famous lambic breweries in Belgium.  We even got to visit this brewery on our European adventure!

Back to Lindemans Pêche Lambic!  Lindemans is in Belgium and was started on a farm outside of Brussels, Belgium.  This beer is certainly going to be on the sweet side of lambics.  I thought it tasted like carbonated peach juice.  No hops, no bitterness, only sweetness.  I can't remember the last time I drank a hard cider, but I would imagine it's a similar concept.  I immediately thought that this beer would be perfect mixed with fresh juice for brunch mimosas (which is similar to what we had at the recent beer brunch we went to)!

Not a beer drinker?  Search out lambics in your local bottle shop!  If you're not a peach lover, there's also apple, strawberry, cherry, and black current flavors.

Grab the button, link-up, and go check out what beer Sarah is talking about today!

Cheers!

I can't do the sour beers at all! But I do agree that non-beer drinkers tend to be able to tolerate these! I had own a couple of weeks ago and couldn't take it anymore so I have it to my friend (who hates beer). She loved it! So did my mom who is also not a beer drinker!

I like to think that I live in the ultimate beer country (Belgium duh) but I've never even seen these! My favorite beer of all times if Leffe Blond even though many hate it big time haha. Another favorite (and hard to come by these days) is Orval.

I'm not a beer drinker either and I've had this brand before but the raspberry or strawberry kind? I think? Not too bad!! The peach sounds good.

I've only had the Cherry, and it was years ago, but I remember it was tasty. I like more sour flavor, though, so I'm not sure I could drink a whole bottle of this. Mixing it for a brunch drink is a great idea!
