On Thursday night, we drove in and enjoyed the fire and just being together in the cabin. The decor definite reminded us of the cabin (of the same owners) from our first anniversary. That fox freaked out the dogs (and myself) a bit. We tested out the hot tub, which was off by quite a few degrees (cue burning of feet & toes), so we took a break from that to let it cool down. In the meantime, beers were consumed and books were read.
I took advantage of all the downtime and used it to read and ice my pathetic leg. Since my leg wasn't 100%, we didn't hike on Friday but took advantage of the beautiful weather nonetheless.
[We welcomed our anniversary morning with breakfast & cards. Above is from the amazing, NC local, EmDash]
[There was plenty of land for the dogs to explore. The above was just a tiny storage barn!]
[A dusty bottle from our visit here]
And over a bottle of wine, D killed me in Monopoly (oh, it's here and now style). It was a good anniversary day. Beautiful weather, great company. In the meantime, I'll be brushing up on my Monopoly skills...

Your photography is amazing! How are you editing these pics? Are you using Photoshop? They have a certain effect to them. I'd love to know more! I have Photoshop!
What a fun relaxing weekend! It's nice to have a tradition you repeat each year but tweak and improve as you move forward.
Sorry to hear you're on the injured list for a little bit! I'm training for my first half and will be combing through your archives looking for running tips. I hope you heal and get back out there soon!
What a gorgeous getaway!! Happy Anniversary!
Aw happy anniversary! Looks like a nice, calm way to spend the time... getting back to the basics and all. :)
So awesome! I just booked our cabin for October near Sylva. I always tend to go to the Smokies (Bryson City-ish) but have heard such great things on Boone. Looks amazing. Happy Anniversary!
That sounds like the perfect anniversary trip! I love Boone so much!! This definitely makes me want to visit again soon.

This sounds like a great tradition. I love that you can take your dogs to the mountain trip. My husband and I have our anniversary on 4/1! :) You've given me inspiration. :)
