California it is! As much as I adore international travel, a lengthy California trip has been on my list for a bit. For the price us east coasters have to pay to fly over to the west, I knew we had to make the trip worth it. No sense in staying in one place with all the great spots decorating the coast of Cali.
[On the docket!]
We're renting a car and exploring the coast and best cities in California. While we're still ironing out the details, but these are the basics of what our trip may look like.
First stop - San Francisco! I'm really hoping to be able to meet up with Claire and Claire during our few days in San Fran! From here we'll rent our car and journey to wine country. We may get to check out the Sierra Nevada brewery up in Chico, then head down to south.
[Santa Barbara]
[Santa Cruz]
We'll head from Santa Barbara (where I might even get to run into Punky!) or other coastal destination to San Diego. It's possible we'll make a brief stop in Los Angeles, but neither D nor myself have a huge desire to visit. Plus we're flying out of LAX at the end of our trip. I'm hoping that somewhere between San Diego and Los Angeles that we can meet up with Carrie at The Corner in Huntington Beach.
[San Diego]
Then there is San Diego. D hasn't been there before so it is going to be all about exploration. Since I'm sure we'll be hitting up lots of cool restaurants and bars, I'm hoping to grab at least one drink with Olivia, Ashley, Tammy, and maybe even Robin!
We're jetting out June 18th, and I'm counting down the days. It's the perfect way for me to kick off my short summer! I'm really lucky I get to take this west coast road trip with D!

i'm sooooo excited!!! :]
SO jealous! This looks like a fantastic trip. I love the idea of renting a car, that way you can really take your time. And I don't know the other bloggers, but I'm pouting that you'll get to have a drink at The Corner with Carrie and The Chef!
*sigh* i used to live in San Diego, I miss it tons, I'm sure you already know what you'll want to do there, but if you need any recommendations, Ill be happy to share my favorite spots.
yay!!!
you MUST go to Big Sur- its my all time favorite place EVER and where we were married.. ugh, you will DIE from those redwoods- so glorious, magnificent, stupendous (i really like this place, can you tell?)
and the drive on HWY 1 through big sur is GNARLY- we even have the stickers and magnets that say "i survived the one"..
but dont let that scare you- it is truly a drive of a lifetime (:
see you in SD!!
Ahhh you're going to have such a great time!!
I can't wait to meet you, and I know it's gonna be an amazing trip. Santa Cruz is a fun town--not on the way if you're going the fast route (I-5), but you must drive down the PCH (Highway 1) at least part of the way down, cause it provides one of the most gorgeous views ever. I am excited to talk more about your trip--it's gonna be a memorable one!
What a great trip idea! California really is a wonderful place to visit & travel though. And a car is a must, so good choice!
p.s. Nice re-design!
Oh, I cannot control my jealousy!!! You are going to have SOO much fun!!
PS - LOVE the new blog design! :)
Oh I hope you will make way to SB, I hope, I hope, I hope. It is on the way to SD. And the drive down the 101 is STUNNING. But if not, oh well, I guess I'll just have to drive down to SD and meet you there with Tammy and Olivia! Done and done. :) So excited for you. This trip is going to be and awesome time, no doubt!
This is going to be the best trip ever! Between San Francisco and San Diego, I would highly recommend a stop in Monterey/Pacific Grove. The Monterey Bay aquarium is pretty awesome, as is Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf (which were recreated as part of the California Adventures theme park across from Disneyland). Sea otters are usually sunning on the rocks along the bay. And if you're a fan of Steinbeck, you'd definitely appreciate it. It's one of my favorite areas along the central coast.
Yay it's going to be sooo fun to meet you and you're going to have the most wonderful time =) !!
Now my only worry is that you'll be arriving in SD June 22-June 24 because Nadav and I have a Palm Springs getaway booked for that weekend. (Crossing fingers.) Any idea about that???
And if I haven't mentioned it before... I LOVE your new blog design. Who did it? =)
